Ministry Of Encouragement

Proverbs 12:25 – Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad.

Fear leads to anxiety, anxiety leads to depression.  When our focus comes on our worries and problems, our heart gets weighed down quickly and easily.

But this proverb shows us the solution – a kind word makes it glad.  The ministry of exhortation and encouragement is one of the most important ministries in the church today.  We might not think it means a lot to tell someone else that they’re doing well, or compliment them on their character or the things they’re doing.  But it’s a vital and important ministry.

Too many great leaders and Christian people have been taken out simply through discouragement.  We have the power in our mouths to build one another up.  To encourage means ‘to give courage to’!
