1 Chronicles 25:1 – Moreover, David and the captains of the army set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with stringed instruments, and with cymbals…
There is a strong link in Scripture between prophecy and music. In 2 Kings 3:15, Elisha calls for a minstrel to play as he brings a prophetic word for the king. Music and worship bypass our mind and connect directly with our spirit.
It’s interesting to note here that it wasn’t just David who set apart these men to play and to prophesy – but it was also the captains of the army. They recognised the power in worship and prophecy, and obviously saw a connection between that and warfare.
Thousands of years later, nothing has changed – music and prophecy are still linked closely together and it’s a formidable weapon against the devil and his plans! When we devote our heart to worship and set our mind to believe the promises of God yet to be fulfilled – we unleash tremendous power in our lives for change!
